This week Fire Chief Ron Martin announced that the Fort Myers Beach Fire District achieved and maintained a class 2 Property Protection Classification from the Insurance Services Office. Only 4% of Fire Departments nationwide achieve a Level 2 Classification.
Ratings are achieved after an independent evaluator from ISO collects, reviews, and conducts data analysis using several independent matrices. Areas evaluated include Emergency Communications, basic Fire District Operations, Municipal Water Supply, and Community Risk Reduction.
Through the Public Protection Classification program, ISO evaluates municipal fire-protection efforts in communities throughout the United States. Through this evaluation, a score from 1 to 10 is issued, which indicates how well protected a community is by the fire department, with one being the best and ten not meeting essential program criteria.
ISO classification ranging from one to three allows district businesses and residents to enjoy maximum potential property and liability insurance savings.
