On Friday, the Fort Myers Beach elementary school is celebrating one year since returning their kids to the beach school. A special bonfire event will be held on the former Red Coconut property now owned by Seagate.
The event will run from 5PM to 8PM. Parking is available at the Fort Myers Beach Library and at Bay Oaks. The kids and parents will walk across the street to watch the sunset and hold a candle lighting event on the Seagate property on the beach side.
Unfortunately due to Hurricane Milton the beach kids are not in the beach school once again. They are attending San Carlos elementary. The school district is remediating the damage in the school but has not given a solid date yet on when the kids will be back in the school.
Must be one of Seagate’s “public benefits”. Along with 9 towers 15 stories high. (Per NBC-2 news)
Respectfully, it’s an event for our kids. Not a statement about SeaGate. Although I do appreciate them letting us use their property. Excited to do something nice for the children. They deserve it.
I agree. It’s for the children and they deserve much more. Look through the smoke and maybe see Seagates motive for the use of the property. The school is run by the county and they have ample land here to accommodate the event. My comment wasn’t intended to take anything away from the children.
