The Fort Myers Beach recall election ballot is set. The noon Monday deadline to qualify passed with no additional names on the Superviser of Elections being submitted other than the three we reported on last week.
If the recall of John King or/and Karen Woodson is successful on November 4th there will be 3 candidates for voters to choose from: Tom Brady, Rebecca Link and Eddie Rood.
There is still a chance the recall could fail. A majority of the voters must vote in favor before they vote for the two candidates they’d like to see on the Town Council if King and Woodson are recalled. There’s also the possibility that only one of the two sitting council members could be recalled. If only one person is recalled, whoever receives the most votes in the recall election will take that seat.
The seats now occupied by King and Woodson are up for election in November of 2026 no matter what happens with the recall.
The recall election will cost between $20,000 and $25,000 and be paid for by Fort Myers Beach taxpayers. The November 4th election will be held at Bay Oaks. You can vote by mail. Your mai-in vote must be submitted by October 23rd. In order to vote by mail, contact the elections office at (239) 533-8683.
Rebecca Link will be on the show Saturday at 11:30AM at Margaritaville on the terrace.
Eddie Rood was on our Sunday show September 21st. WATCH HERE
Karen Woodson will be on the show Sunday at 10AM.
Tom Brady on the show Sunday at 10:30.
South end property owner here. It’s not just those in close proximity that are against such behemoths. Change is inevitable, we all get that. But, PLEASE, for the love of all that’s good, FOLLOW the Comp Plan, LISTEN to the LPA, and the tax paying residents. We all have a vested interest in FMB’s future. We (foolishly?) thought FMB’s direction for the future was set with the established Comprehensive Plan.
It’s interesting you mention the recall cost, since that is already done. $25,000 is nothing compared to a 17 plus story next to your home. And how many more 17 story plus buildings will be built after the first one is approved. The quality of enjoying the island will be significantly affected. The town representatives need to listen to the residents and abide by current building regulations.
I’m a condo owner on our island for 27 years.i do not know any of our elected officials personally. I attended the budget meeting. I think all elected officials and department heads presented themselves well. They don’t have an easy job.You voted for them.Which means you gave them the power to run our town. After hurricane Ian Our town will never be the same. Many tuff decisions to be made.A recall costs all tax payers money. Don’t like a person next election don’t vote for that person. That person your recalling on one issue Could be the one who is going to save you money on your taxes..because he has better ideas then others on how to save money and still keep thinks running for our town.
