Estero Boulevard property owner Eddie Rood, who is on the upcoming recall ballot, has been using a slightly altered version of the Fort Myers Beach town logo on his campaign materials. Is he allowed to do that?
While Rood claims on his Facebook page that he was given permission to use the logo, we asked Town Manager Will McKannay if the town did in fact give him permission. Here’s what McKannay had to say: “No. His request was denied. He was told he could appeal that decision with the Town Council. He has not done that yet.”
Rood was not in attendance at the Monday Town Council meeting where he could have spoken about the issue during public comment.
Rood, Tom Brady and Rebecca Link are all on the November 4th recall ballot. Voters will first decide whether to recall John King and Karen Woodson before voting for two members to replace them if the recall is successful.
If more than 50% of the voters vote yes to recall King and Woodson it would be the first successful recall of an elected official ever in Lee County.
If successfully recalled, these two removals would represent the second successful recall in Lee County history.
Fort Myers Mayor Florence Fritz in 1951 was the first and so far only successful recall in Lee County.
Two Cape Coral recall attempts failed.
As for Rood, his boardwalk across publicly owned land prohibiting public use should be all the reason needed to keep him out of government. And another reason to remove Woodson and King, who allowed him to get away with it.
This shouldn’t surprise anyone when this is the guy that filed lawsuits against the town to get his walkover, but calls out Anita for supporting a group against over development……. Think about it!

Omg. The town did this shit to me when I had logos of Florida and beach stuff in my tables at Mango Rita’s on the beach. They should be happy someone loves the logo enough to use it. Ridiculous BS, once again the town and its foolish rules reign supreme. What a joke the town has become.
