The new management team at The Smokin’ Oyster Brewery is inviting the community to their official ribbon cutting today at 10AM.
Peter Ennis and Nick Ruland, who own Wahoo Willie’s and Snug Harbor restaurants, partnered with local resident Hank Leitnaker to reopen S.O.B. The land and building are owned by the Freeland Group.
S.O.B. was owned by the Freeman family and closed after Hurricane Ian did severe damage inside the building on September 28th 2022. In June of 2023 Freeland purchased 4 parcels 340 & 401 Old San Carlos Boulevard, and 935 & 939 Third Street which included the S.O.B property.
The restaurant reopened at the end of 2024.
On May 16th, food specials include:
– Screamin Aioli Shrimp – hand battered and lightly fried, tossed in screamin aioli sauce. An SOB classic everyone loves.
– Uncle Vinny’s Oysters – Fresh shucked, topped and roasted with secret shrimp and crab stuffing.
– Jerked Black Gulf Grouper – served over risotto, broccoli, topped with mango salsa, pineapple sweet chili sauce.

Give SOB a shoutout—-👍👍 they are buying Pink Shrimp from our Local Shrimpers on San Carlos Island and they serve it just right. Fantastic.
If only the other famous Local Restaurants would do the same.
I’m not a Shrimper just a Local but I only eat Local Pink Shrimp, nothing from big wholesalers or Asian crap.
Thanks Hank for being a leader on this.
