Sanibel Hosting Hurricane Seminar

The City of Sanibel is hosting its annual hurricane seminar Friday, June 23rd at 1PM. The annual free event is held to educate residents, businesses, and island workers about hurricane planning, evacuations, sheltering and recovery.

The seminar will be held at the Big Arts at 900 Dunlop Road on Sanibel and broadcast on the City of Sanibel Facebook page HERE.

The speakers will be:
Ben Abes, Lee County Emergency Management, will discuss Family Emergency Planning, evacuation decision making, evacuations, sheltering and basic recovery information.

Kevin Barbot, Sanibel Fire Chief will discuss search and rescue operations and the Fire Department’s role in hurricane operations.

Maria Espinoza, F.I.S.H. Program Director, will discuss Special Needs issues on Sanibel and Captiva.

Scott Krawczuk, Interim Public Works Director, will discuss the City’s post-storm recovery plan.

Craig Mole, Sanibel Building Official, will review city building codes.

William Dalton, Sanibel Police Chief, will lead the seminar and review the city’s storm plans.
