Last Friday the cross that had been attached to Lau Hall at St. Peter ELCA was installed on the remaining sanctuary building. As St. Peter works to restore its main building, the cross now returns as a beacon of faith to so many Fort Myers Beach Islanders.
Trudy Archer from St. Peter’s shared a very interested fact about the churches on Fort Myers Beach. “An interesting fact from the devastating effects of Hurricane Ian is that not one cross on any of the Island’s churches fell during the storm. This cross sat atop our front building which was almost decimated by the wind and storm surge, yet the cross stood strong. We are so grateful for all the residents of the Beach who have supported our efforts to keep a place of worship going while we all catch our breath and work to make this home again for everyone.”
