The Fort Myers Beach town government has to move town hall to comply with FEMA regulations that require the temporary trailers they’ve been operating in to be removed.
Starting June 17th all government operations will be functioning from the Bay Oaks building across the street from the trailers.
The old town hall, next to where the new fire house is being built, was destroyed by Hurricane Ian. Town Council meetings started off being held at a restaurant off island before being moved to DiamondHead Resort then Bay Oaks before the temporary trailers were brought in.
There is no announced date for when the new town hall building at 6400 Estero Boulevard will be open. A lot of the town government staff is actually working out of that building now, however, it’s not open to the public yet. At a previous Town Council meeting former Town Manager Andy Hyatt said the town was waiting for a functioning elevator.
The Hours of Operation for town hall at Bay Oaks starting June 17th:
Monday – Friday
8:30am – 4:30pm
