The Florida Department of Transportation announed Monday that at 10AM Tuesday the new traffic signal at the intersection of Fifth Street and San Carlos Boulevard will become fully operational. The light has been flashing since last week to help give drivers the heads up that the new light would be switched on soon.
The new light is part of FDOT’s road construction project that includes a roundabout at the base of the bridge, new sidewalks and landscaping, several pedestrian crossings, two lanes coming over thebridge to the beach and a new traffic light on the other side of the bridge at Main Street.

Margaritaville. Also are there any plans for better lighting for Estero Blvd.
Concerned the traffic will be even worse then it had been. Keeping fingers crossed it works and we can train visitors to use the correct crossing areas. Concerned with two additional crossing areas it will slow things down further for cars.
How long does it take the county and town to figure out a traffic light? How many useless studys.
The use of studies to know how or when to turn on the traffic light switch is another example of passing accountability to study administrators instead of just having common sense.
