Voters on Fort Myers Beach will decide whether the current Town Council will remain the same or whether someone gets bumped off the council for challenger Greg Scasny. As of this morning, 2,400 of 3,351 eligible Fort Myers Beach voters voted.
On the ballot running for Town Council are Mayor Dan Allers, Vice Mayor Jim Atterholt who are finishing out their first 4-year terms. Councilman Scott Safford, who was appointed 9 months ago to fill the seat Bill Veach resigned from. And, Greg Scasny.
Beach Talk Radio sponsored a candidate debate/forum with all four Town Council candidates at Fresh Catch Bistro on Friday night. You can watch that 90-minute debate HERE.
Town Council seats are for 4 years. Council members are allowed to serve two consecutive terms before they must sit out for at least one year before running again. Council members John King and Karen Woodson were both elected in November of 2022.
If you are a registered voter on Fort Myers Beach, and you plan to vote Tuesday, you mst go to Bay Oaks. In accordance with Florida law, voters must present picture and signature identification when voting in person. Picture identification may not be expired.
