When will the resort open? What’s the cost of a day pass and how much of a discount will the locals get? How much of the resort will be open to the public? All your Margaritaville questions will be answered Saturday morning when General Manager David Cesario joins us live at 11AM.

  1. With the 200 food service employees needed along with hundreds of other employees…are there any new plans in the works for employee housing?

  2. One thing people need to keep in mind is that this is a privately-owned property. Their decision to limit the number of day passes to the general public must be weighed against factors such as occupancy of the resort, etc. The enjoyment of the paying guests must outweigh the desire of the general public to use their facilities. Imagine paying the kind of money the resort will be getting for guestrooms during season, and being a guest who has to wait in line to use the various facilities such as the pool or lounge chairs because the resort has let in too many general admissions. You’d be upset, and rightly so.

As for any discounts 33931 residents might receive, the resort is being beyond generous by putting forth such an offer! Find another resort anywhere in the country where residents of the local zip code receive any benefits above and beyond what might be offered to the general public. I truly doubt you’ll find any. And if you do, the number is likely in single digits.

As for security, I suspect that, like many other waterpark resorts around the country, M’ville may use wristbands to identify resort guests and the general public. Don’t have a wristband? You’ll likely have to leave. X number of wristbands given out for a given day taking into account the resort’s occupancy may be the way to control the numbers at the resort.

But for people to just assume that because they live here, that the resort owes them some kind of free service such as unlimited use of the pool is not only low-brow and tactless, but also outrageously presumptuous. Let’s all try to be better than that, and remember that ownership has been a partner with this town from the beginning.

  3. I am sure as they open and get operations up and running they will sort all this out. I have been to several of there locations at other destinations and they are top notch in operations. But please stop with the always something free. It’s just ridiculous.

  4. Wow! I can’t believe you are even saying this about locals. #1. There isn’t many left here. #2. Kids should be able to enjoy the pool during a hot summer no matter whether they have $$ or not. I am sure there is an adult pool available for those that don’t like kids. #3. We have been through a lot this last year and just to have a pool to go while us locals have a couple of drinks and visit this new hotel that we are paying for in more ways then the ability to use their pool.

  5. “That type of clientele.” 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

The discounts are available only to those with a 33931 zip on a FL driver’s license.

Anyone can purchase a day pass.

(See BTR’s July 2022 article about the public benefit negotiated with the town, which includes, among other things, the discounts on a number of things excluding lodging.)

  6. How will they prevent people from dropping off their kids and using the pool as their baby sitting? If they give a discount for locals will it only be Fort Myers Beach Zip? My family owns a few condos on the beach (3) and people dropping off kids has been an issue at times and then no one wants to ask them for ID for fear of being labeled and everyone knows they don’t live there. Now outsiders need to be with a owner at all times and wear bracelets.
Margaritaville will be the new shiny object attracting people who do not live on the beach. I hope they have security in place to deal with that. If it is abused then Margaritaville will close off the pool to the public. They need to charge high enough prices to not attract that type of clientele. If I was paying to stay at Margaritaville for vacation and local kids/people were running around, talking loud and taking up with lounge chairs, I would be not be happy.
