Attorney Morgan Bentley isn’t wasting any time. He’s filed documentation requesting Ray Murphy and Bill Veach (pictured) turn over everything related to the recall campaign they launched against Karen Woodson and John King. Court followers will be familiar with the term discovery.
In Woodson’s lawsuit she’s requested the following from former Mayor Ray Murphy:
All evidence, including but not limited to communications and documents, that defendant possesses to support defendant’s first allegation within the Recall Petition, which is as follows: “Karen Woodson had a private conversation with Vice Mayor Jim Atterholt regarding rebuilding the Lee County Pier destroyed by Hurricane Ian in violation of Florida’s Government-in-the-Sunshine Law, Chapter 286, Florida Statutes.”
All evidence, including but not limited to communications and documents, that defendant possesses to support defendant’s second allegation within the Recall Petition, which is as follows: “Karen Woodson engaged in private conversations to coordinate with John King in soliciting a replacement Town Attorney in violation of Florida’s Government-in-the-Sunshine Law, Chapter 286, Florida Statutes and in violation of the Town of Fort Myers Beach Town Council Policies and Procedures Manual.”
All evidence, including but not limited to communications and documents, that Defendant possesses to support defendant’s third allegation within the Recall Petition, which is as follows: “Karen Woodson received unreported gifts of meals and in-kind services from parties who were seeking land use approvals from Town Council in violation of Florida’s Code of Ethics for Public Officers, Chapter 112, Florida Statutes; and in violation of the Town of Fort Myers Beach Town Council Policies and Procedures Manual.”
In King’s lawsuit he requested the following from former Town Council member Bill Veach.
