Last night the Lee County Utilities department rescinded its precautionary boil water notice for 725 residences and 35 businesses on Fort Myers Beach. The county says the water is safe for normal use and consumption.
The notice, which was sent out on Monday, applied to addresses from 18100 San Carlos Boulevard to the Matanzas Bridge.
The situation evolved from damage to a 4-inch water main near Prescott Street and San Carlos Boulevard.
Precautionary boil water notices are placed into effect when the water pressure within a water main drops below 20 psi.
