At just 9 years old, Emiliana Fuger is a published author whose book is now part of the Library of Congress. Her debut book, Anatomy Under the Sea: The Adventures of Luna the Loggerhead, was created to make marine science accessible and engaging for young readers after she encountered a lack of age-appropriate resources during her own research.

On Saturday, May 9th from 11AM to Noon Emiliana will show off her work at the Visitors Education Center at the Clinic for the Rehabilitation of Wildlife on Sanibel.

Written by Emiliana and illustrated by Jess Burbank, the rhyming story follows Luna the loggerhead sea turtle on a journey through South Florida’s coastal waters to Juno Beach. Along the way, Luna encounters a variety of marine species and explores how their internal anatomy compares to her own—blending storytelling with real scientific concepts.

Published by Orange Hat Publishing in January 2026, the book introduces readers of all ages to ocean life, anatomy, and conservation in an engaging and accessible way.

Emiliana’s achievements include winning the 2025 Wavemaker STEM Competition, being named a 2025 Go Blue Award finalist, and being selected to represent Florida in a PBS Kids feature.
