Fort Myers Beach resident Monica Schmucker hosted a kick-off fundraising campaign Thursday night. Schmucker is running for the county-wide seat now occupied by Kathleen Morgan. Over 100 people attended the event held at the Island Storage Suites just off the beach.
Before attending law school Monica taught English at both Miami Dade County Public Schools and Miami Dade College until moving to Indiana where she attended law school. After law school, Monica clerked for Judge Kathleen Lang in LaPorte County Superior Court and later joined the Office of the Indiana Attorney General as a Deputy Attorney General.
Monica and her husband Dustin have two children in the Lee County School District school system.

YOU GO MONICA!!! I wish we could vote for you but had to move off island and out of state! My children went to FMB Elementary and so did my grandson Jaxson til the storm hit. I wish you the best..they’d be lucky to have you!
It was such a fun event at a great venue. I would estimate over 100 people showed up overall. It was a really great turn out, a great time, and I enjoyed talking with everyone there.
