The Fort Myers Beach Woman’s Club will receive the 2023 “Civic Award” from the Fort Myers Beach Chamber of Commerce. The Civic Award recognizes residents, groups, organizations, and businesses who have made a real difference to the local community.
Despite facing the loss of their historic building and many of their personal homes in Hurricane Ian, the FMB Woman’s Club has stepped forward and continued to support the community with a number of initiatives. In 2023, the Woman’s Club played a vital role in reviving the Bay Oaks Easter Egg Hunt, they introduced a Pub Passport initiative that boosted business for 12 local restaurants and pubs and they partnered with the FMB Community Foundation to continue the #WeAreFMB 33931 Fund, aiding residents and raising nearly $1 million.
The Woman’s Club successfully hosted their annual Christmas Tree Festival fundraiser for non-profits and made generous contributions to local organizations such as the Beach Kids Foundation, and the FMB Elementary PTO. More than $40,000 in supplies were donated to FMB Strong, including generators, power washers, shop vacs and power tools.
The Chamber Board of Directors will present the Woman’s Club with the award at the Chamber’s Annual Meeting and “Beach Luau”, April 26th at Diamond Head Beach Resort, Fort Myers Beach, from 5-8:30 p.m.
Congratulations and well deserved!
