Fort Myers Beach resident and Property Medic employee Dylan Laforce (pictured here in the blue shirt) won the 2025 Shrimp Eating contest Sunday at Sandy Bottom. Dylan wolfed down 3 pounds of shrimp in 8 minutes to take home the trophy at the 67th annual Lions Club Shrimp Festival on Fort Myers Beach.
Dylan was born and raised on Lazy Way Fort Myers Beach. He told Beach Talk Radio, “I always loved attending our shrimp festivals and participating with pride. Before the competition started my wife Chloe grabbed my face and said “you got this.” I’m proud to have competed with some great men and one little lady.” Dylan is also the lead construction foreman for The Property Medic.
Following Dylan in second place was Sandy Bottom and The Whale partner Greg Vonkrumreig and in 3rd place, representing Beach Talk Radio was Craig Chandler.
There were 10 shrimp eaters at the event Sunday afternoon including 9-year old Vada who jumped into the contest at the last minute when one eater dropped out. The 50-pound shrimp lover gave the nine other competitors a run for their money. Vada demolished 2 bags of shrimp in the 8 minute contest. Later in the day, she ate some more shrimp and topped it off with ice cream according to her mom.
