The project was originally approved by the Town Council in June of 2024. Owner Beverly Milligan tells Beach Talk Radio News that she’s hoping for final approval of the Development Order by the end of this year, then it’ll be another 10 months of design and permitting.
On Tuesday, the Fort Myers Beach Local Planning Agency approved an amendment to the project’s original CPD that will allow Myerside to serve alcohol at their outdoor resort pool for guests and an outdoor area of the restaurant, which will be open to the public.
The 53,463 square foot boutique resort will include 45 hotel rooms, and four live/work units. The resort will also include 9,000 square feet of retail space, including a 2,250 square foot restaurant, on the 1st floor.
Clearly concerned that the project has not started yet, LPA member Jane Plummer asked, “Do they plan to build this or is the property for sale?” Attorney Keith Long, representing Myerside, responded, “The Architects are waiting on me to get this approval (the CPD Amendment for alcohol).”
When the project was originally approved in June of 2024 Milligan said if everything went smoothly construction could begin in late 2025 and take 18-24 months to build. That would have pegged the opening in the Summer or Fall of 2027. That time-frame seems to be pushed back by at least a year now.
