The Miller’s own The Whale, Sandy Bottom, Station 31, and the recently purchased church building behind the library on Estero Boulevard. Work converting the Beach Theater to a restaurant came to a standstill months ago. The Miller’s hope to have the restaurant open by July 1st.
The Miller’s are working on a name change for the restaurant because The Breakers Resort in West Palm Beach is trademarked.
Dawn Miller broke the news of the purchase on Beach Talk Radio Sunday. They expect to close on the purchase of the building on Friday. Watch the announcement HERE.
Nick Campo owned the Beach Theater from 1999 until he sold it to Steve Boge. The theater closed in May of 2022 when Boge purchased the building for $4 million, and was contemplating what to do with it. Then, of course, Hurricane Ian changed and delayed everything. Boge’s ownership group also purchased the 34-room Gulfview Manor Resort as part of the deal. The total for both properties was $19 million.
Boge planned to redevelop the property as an open-air restaurant and bar with outdoor games and entertainment on the ground level under the existing building. That area was used for parking when the building was a theater. The plan was to call the ground floor restaurant Boardwalk Grill. The second floor was going to be a Steakhouse. There was never an explanation why he stopped work on the project. There was only speculation that the ownership group could not agree on how to move forward.
When this project was approved by the town over a year ago there was a big concession made on parking. Town code requires 115 spaces for the use Boge planned to convert it to. The Town Council approved a special exception to allow him to operate with only 33 parking spaces at the property.
