Superintendent to Town: No Money For School
Less than 2 weeks after Mayor Dan Allers proposed the Lee County School District turn the Historical Beach School building over to the town and provide the town with $12 million toward building a new school, the Superintendent told the town no money was available.

Safford Voted in as Vice Mayor
As expected Dan Allers was unanimously chosen to serve as Mayor of Fort Myers Beach at Monday’s Town Council meeting. Allers enters his 4th consecutive year as Mayor. Allers then nominated Scott Safford as Vice Mayor. That vote was also 5-0.
Meli’s Ice Cream Needs One More Approval
Property owner Carlos Chavez took the next step to building back the first new structure in Times Square. On Monday the Town Council moved his plan to build an ice cream shop and small residential unit to a second public hearing December 15th.

Historical Society Announces Holiday Gathering
