Keep Lee County Beautiful has logged another successful Great American Cleanup, a nationwide initiative celebrating America’s 250th anniversary through community action and environmental stewardship.
Throughout April, May, and June, KLCB coordinated 29 cleanup events across Lee County, bringing together 473 volunteers who dedicated 1,170 hours to improving local communities and natural spaces.
Together, volunteers removed 6,074 pounds of litter and debris from roadways, parks, shorelines, and waterways throughout the county. Their efforts resulted in the cleanup of 17 roadside miles, 5 acres of parks and public spaces, and 7 miles of shoreline spanning 12 Lee County ZIP codes.
“The Greatest American Cleanup demonstrated the incredible power of community service and environmental stewardship,” said Trish Fancher, Executive Director of Keep Lee County Beautiful. “As our nation celebrates 250 years of history, we’re proud that hundreds of Lee County residents chose to honor that milestone by taking action to protect and beautify the places we live, work, and play.”

The clean up is very much appreciated by Ft. Myers Beach residents, it makes us proud to see how much the younger generations show appreciation for our beaches and that way also helps to show tourists that here in Florida we care about the environment.👍🏽THANKS
