The owners of Bahama Beach Club at 5370 Estero Boulevard will gather on Wednesday, May 20th at 8:30AM. Buildings one and two of their modular rebuild will be set in place on that day as the owners get closer to coming home after Hurricane Ian destroyed their beloved 1970s bungalow-style homes.

They are now called Luxury Style condos. The homes are built by Affinity. They were built in Georgia and shipped down to Fort Myers Beach. There will be 6 beachside buildings and 5 bayside buildings. Each is a duplex. They are hoping the entire development is finished by November of this year. They are putting back the same number of buildings that were ther before, using the town’s build back ordinance.

The original homes were built in the late 1960s and early 1970s. There are 22 owners in the 11 buildings. A few owners had it as their primary residence. Others used them as a vacation spot and some rented them out. All of the buildings were destroyed in the hurricane and demolished shortly after.

Representatives from the Fort Myers Beach Chamber of Commerce will be at the event to help with the ground-breaking.

  1. Soooo glad to hear! I was actually staying there a few days before Ian hit and stayed there often. Managed to get a flight out the day before. Went back in December and sat where it all once was and cried for about 45 minutes. This has been a long time coming and I’m so happy for all the owners to finally be getting their little piece of paradise back!!

    • Dear Candi, I understand your sadness and I too, have shed a tear or three looking at the damaged lots. (Our company used to manage a number of the houses to the north of BBC.) Please continue to return to our beautiful island paradise. And BTW, do not pay any attention to the morons who are too chicken to post their full names when saying mean things. Shocking huh?
