According to Lee County Supervisor of Elections Tommy Doyle, starting this November, Fort Myers Beach will go from three polling places to two. St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church will no longer be a beach polling place.

Doyle’s original plan was to cut the number of polling places on the beach from 3 to 1 however, he changed his mind after Fort Myers Beach Town Councilman Jim Atterholt explained the importance of having one on the north end of the beach and one on the south end due to the traffic issues on the island.

Lee County is reducing the number of polling places throughout the county due to the increase in early voting and mail in voting. The County is reducing its number of precincts to 100 from 125.

The two walk-in locations on the beach will be:
Chapel by the Sea – 100 Chapel St Fort Myers Beach 33931
Church of the Ascension – 6025 Estero Blvd, Fort Myers Beach 33931

Two Fort Myers Beach Town Council seats are on the ballot this year. The searts occupied by Mayor Ray Murphy and Vice Mayor Rexann Hosafros. Nobody has officially declared they are running for either seat as of yet.
