Town councilwoman Karen Woodson believes beach residents are ready and she's asked Bay Oaks Director Jeff Hague to look into the logistics and cost of a 4th of July parade on Estero Boulevard.

An aide to Florida CFO Jimmy Patronis told Fort Myers Beach Mayor Jim Atterholt that 223 people were seen at Tuesday's Insurance Village event at Diamondhead and over $1.4 million in unsettled claims were given back to policy holders.

Those are the words of Crowder Gulf Regional Manager Barton Holmes and he was talking about the amount of debris that has already been removed from Fort Myers Beach following Hurricane Ian.

If you've driven, biked or walked down Estero Boulevard you've certainly noticed massive piles of debris accumulating on the sidewalks. Lee County owns Estero Boulevard and they are no longer picking up that debris. And nobody knows why.

That's what Interim Town Manager Keith Wilkins told the Town Council Monday. The permit has been issued to knock the building down and all the town is waiting for is the final approval from FEMA.

Those are the words of incoming Fort Myers Beach Town Manager Andrew Hyatt. Hyatt's $197,000 contract was approved by the Fort Myers Town Council Monday. His first day on the job will be May 1st.

As part of National Mental Health Month, the J.N. “Ding” Darling National Wildlife Refuge on Sanibel, has announced Nature Wellness Week 2023. The second annual event takes place May 3rd through the 9th.
