Restoration of Post Office Building Has Begun
According to Vice Mayor Jim Atterholt, work is underway to restore the severely damaged Post Office building on Carolina Avenue. Everglades Construction Group was awarded the contract to rebuild the facility.

The Semmer family announced on social media this past weekend that long-time Fort Myers Beach resident Bill Semmer passed away peacefully on January 20th surrounded by his children and grandchildren. Semmer was battling melanoma cancer.

La Ola Ready to Expand in Times Square
The buildings are gone but the spirit to move on from Hurricane Ian continues. Nearly every building in the entertainment district of Fort Myers Beach was swallowed up by the storm and sucked into the Gulf of Mexico. Since that day, La Ola restaurant owner Thomas Houghton has played a major role in getting life back to normal.
Guitar Raffle Nets Woman’s Club $1,615
The guitar was signed and donated to the Woman's Club by the band STYX who performed at the Barbara B. Mann Performing Arts Center Thursday night. The winner of the signed guitar was Amy McCormish from Naples.

The Beach Bar is Back Baby
Like every other business on Fort Myers Beach, The Beach Bar, located right on the sand at 1668 I Street, was smashed to pieces by Hurricane Ian. Tomorrow The Beach Bar reopens and they are ready to once again put smiles on the faces of locals and visitors alike.
Community Foundation Beach Cleanup
On Saturday January 28th at 8:00, the Fort Myers Beach Community Foundation is organizing a cleanup on the section of the beach they've adopted, Dakota Avenue.
Mound House Good News
The Mound House grounds and public restrooms are now open weekdays 7:30A to 4:30P and the museum store is open weekdays 9A to 4P. The museum and exhibits are closed due to damage sustained during Ian. The plan is for the museum to reopen in April.
Mail Service Returns to The Beach Monday
Fort Myers Beach Vice Mayor Jim Atterholt deserves a lot of credit for working every local and national contact he had in his rolodex to get mail service restored to Fort Myers Beach. It wasn't easy and it certainly wasn't swift, however, he got it done.
Guitar Raffle to Benefit FMB Woman’s Club
STYX is performing at the Barbara B. Mann Performing Arts Hall on Thursday, January 19th. A guitar signed by the band will be raffled off with proceeds going to the Fort Myers Beach Woman’s Club for ongoing Hurricane Ian Relief.Â
