Lovers Key Announces Brews Date
November 17th is the date for the 2022 Friends of Lovers Key Beach N' Brews fundraiser. The 4-hour event will include live music, a silent auction, food trucks and local breweries. Proceeds benefit The Lovers Key Welcome and Discovery Center.
Tropical Sunset to Re-Open Today
Following a fire last week that damaged the outside signage of the Tropical Sunset Gift Shop on Old San Carlos, the owners tell us they will be re-opening today.
Town Moves to Dismiss Rood ADA Suit
The town of Fort Myers Beach has filed a motion for Summary Judgment with the U.S District Court in the Middle District of Florida to have Eddie Rood's American With Disabilities Act lawsuit dismissed.

Meet The New Beach School Principal
Dr. Traci Kohler is the new Principal at the Fort Myers Beach Elementary school. Kohler took over for Karen Manzi who retired in May after a four-year run as Principal at the Beach School. Kohler will be our guest on Beach Talk Radio tomorrow morning at 9:45.

‘Ding’ Darling Awards $33K In Scholarships
“Ding” Darling Wildlife Society-Friends of the Refuge has awarded $33,700 in conservation education scholarships to 14 students from the surrounding five-county area. During its 16-year history, the DDWS Environmental Scholarship Program has awarded $233,200 to students.
We Have Our First Hatchlings
Fort Myers Beach finally had its first turtle hatchling of the season late last week. Turtle Time reports that 75 hatchlings out of 78 eggs made it to the water successfully. The nest was located in the CWA just south of the Wyndham resort. As of last week Fort Myers Beach was just over 100 nests on Fort Myers Beach.
Gas Prices in Florida Tumble
Florida gas prices dropped another 15 cents last week. The state average is now on a 5-week streak of declines, falling a total of 62 cents per gallon. Sunday, the average price for gasoline was $4.27 per gallon. This time last year, the price was $3 a gallon.
