Parade Nets 85 Bikes
The 6th annual Fort Myers Beach Christmas Bike Parade was a smashing success this past Saturday night as 85 bikes decorated for the holidays weaved up and down side streets with an assist from the Lee County Sheriff's Department.
Two New Programs at Shell Museum
The Bailey-Matthews National Shell Museum on Sanibel launched two new programs ato give more people a chance to experience the educational impact of its shell collection, aquariums, touch pools, and marine life. Funding for the 2 new initiatives came from an anonymous donor.

Airport Administrator to Speak At Luncheon
Ben Siegel, executive director of the Lee County Port Authority, will speak at the January 12th lunch meeting of the Sanibel & Captiva Islands Chamber of Commerce. The luncheon will be at Sundial Beach Resort & Spa on Sanibel Island starting at 11:30 a.m.
Beach Kiwanis Donates $20K To Hospital
At a recent Fort Myers Beach Kiwanis meeting, which was also a Division Council meeting for 5 other clubs, a check for $20,000 was presented to Golisano Children's Hospital by the Beach Kiwanis Club.
Arches Construction Contract By May?
Representatives from The Restore the Fort Myers Beach Arches organization met with Lee County Parks & Recreation Director Jesse Lavender this week to discuss the future of the arches after a $20,000 donation from the King Foundation last week gave the fundraising campaign a big boost.
