Randy Riggins and Carol Whitefield, owners of the Shamrock on Fort Myers Beach, recently completed their 3rd annual 2-week toy drive for kids in the community. And there are going to be a lot of happy faces this holiday season thanks to the team at The Shamrock.

This week Fire Chief Ron Martin announced that the Fort Myers Beach Fire District achieved and maintained a class 2 Property Protection Classification from the Insurance Services Office. Only 4% of Fire Departments nationwide achieve a Level 2 Classification.

The “Ding” Darling Visitor & Education Center has reopened most of the interactive exhibits that have been barriered off since the pandemic began. Ding has also debuted its Artist-in-Residence exhibition in a gallery format with occasional appearances by artist Rachel Pierce.

The Clinic for Rehabilitation of Wildlife is hosting a gala called "Wild About CROW," in downtown Fort Myers on January 15th. The $150 per plate event will be at The Burroughs Home & Gardens. There will be a live and silent auction to raise money for the organization.

Saturday, February 26th Shuckers is hosting the first Cornhole tournament behind the restaurant on Fort Myers Beach. The tournament will be a fundraiser for the Fort Myers Beach Elementary School. We'll keep you posted when the website is up for those who want to register.

Fort Myers Beach Town Councilman Dan Allers was the top vote-getter at the chili-tasting contest at the Woman's Club Tree Festival Saturday night. Allers' knocked off 3-time defending chili champion Reid Freeman from Smokin Oyster Brewery, who came in second place.
