Heim Charged With Battery
Self-appointed Fort Myers Beach water activist John Heim was arrested for Battery on November 25th by Lee County Sheriff's Deputies. The 51-year old, who's occupation is listed as ice cream salesman, is accused of returning to a residence on Emily Lane drunk, yelling at the victim for not cooking his dinner, and striking her.

Big Day for Judy Z Saturday
A special reception is being held for retired Sanibel Town Manager Judy Zimomra Saturday, December 4th from 3 to 6 p.m. at The Community House on Sanibel. Zimomra retired from her position after 20 years on the job. The event is being organized by Friends of Judie, made up of Sanibel businesses and non-profits.
Can You Count Birds?
The national Audubon's 122nd Christmas Bird Count is December 14th through January 5th. The local San-Cap Audubon will conduct its count on Saturday, December 18th. The results of the local count will be forwarded to the National Audubon Society for inclusion in the their count.
Ding Welcomes Army Vet to Staff
Urban Ranger Janet Sokoloski is the newest member of the 'Ding' Darling National Refuge staff. Sokoloski joins 'Ding' as part of the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service’s Urban Outreach initiative. Sokolowski is a veteran of the war in the Middle East where she taught marksmanship to allies in Afghanistan.
Christmas Bike Parade is This Saturday
Locals on Fort Myers Beach will once again see, and hear, holiday cheer being spread by bicycle. The annual Fort Myers Beach Christmas Bike Caroling parade will be held this Saturday beginning at 6PM. Everyone is welcome to join in the festivities.
