Based on feedback from the community and input from the town council, Town Manager Roger Hernstadt will be firing off a letter to the Florida Department of Transportation with the council's concerns about the Matanzas Pass Bridge project. Here are those concerns.

According to Lee County Supervisor of Elections Tommy Doyle, starting this November, Fort Myers Beach will go from three polling places to two. St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church will no longer be a beach polling place.

While the steps to the fishing pier under the Matanzas Pass Bridge are already gone, there's still a chance the pier can be saved. The state was in the process of removing the fishing pier after the town decided it would not take over the maintenance of the pier. However, that may change.
