No Lighting Decision Made As of Yet
The consulting firm charged with putting together a lighting plan for the 6 miles of roadway that make up Estero Boulevard held its second meeting this week with the stakeholders committee. Representatives from Town Lighting say they've now collected data on the current lighting setup and are formulating their plan.

And while that's a 7% decrease in spending over 2020 all signs are pointing in a positive direction economically compared to last year.

Restaurants Can Keep Selling Liquor To Go
Good news for restaurants who were selling alcohol-to-go to try and stem the COVID-19 revenue bleeding. On Thursday Governor DeSantis signed into law Senate Bill 148, which authorizes restaurants to sell or deliver alcoholic beverages prepared by the vendor in sealed containers.
Town to Rood: Prove You’re Disabled
The legal battle between the Town of Fort Myers Beach and Estero Boulevard homeowner Eddie Rood rages on. The latest court filing comes from the town in response to U.S District Court Judge Sheri Chappel's decision not to dismiss Rood's ADA claim against the town.
Turtle Update: 4 Nests on Fort Myers Beach
With turtle nesting season officially underway as of May 1, Fort Myers Beach is now home to 4 nests. The first nest was spotted on May 7th. To the south of us on Bonita Beach there are already 17 nests. Â
Bridge Project To Begin in Late 2022
According to the Florida Department of Transportation a public hearing on the planned reconfiguration at the base of the Matanzas Pass Bridge on the beach side will be held this summer. An exact date was not given. So, when might construction on this project begin?

$30,000 Raised For Beach School
Last Saturday night Shuckers hosted a 1920's themed casino night fundraising event. $30,000 was raised to benefit the Fort Myers Beach elementary school. The casino event is typically held outside the Women's Club in a big tent, however, with permitting challenges due to COVID it was moved to Shuckers this year.
No Review Planned For Town Manager
Will this town council be derelict in their responsibility to the town taxpayers on Monday? With the 17th being the final Fort Myers Beach town council meeting in the month of May, it appears the council will not be evaluating the performance of the town manager, which they are required to do, according to his contract.
