(SANIBEL) The next Sanibel-Captiva Chamber of Commerce virtual luncheon is set for this Wednesday at Noon. The speaker will be John Talmage, Director for the Lee County Economic Development Office. Talmage will discuss the current state of the regional economy as well as an update on the Lee Cares program. REGISTER

The next Fort Myers Beach Chamber of Commerce networking breakfast will be held at Shuckers this Thursday at 8AM. The guest speaker for the event is Valerie's House CEO Angela Melvin. The cost is $25 for Chamber members, $35 for non-members. REGISTER

The Fort Myers Beach town council gave staff direction to move forward with the Bayside Park plan pictured here. Bayside Park could be the first of the three major projects, the town has borrowed $10 million to help fund, that sees shovels hit the ground.

The 6th annual Lovers Key Boat Show, Market and Seafood Fest was a tremendous success last weekend. Over $5,000 people paid a $5.00 cover charge, over three days, with tens of thousands of dollars was raised for local charities.

The Fort Myers Beach Town Council has joined the Southwest Florida Regional Resiliency Compact, an organization forming to fight climate change (Sanibel is also in the group). Earlier this week the Sanibel City Council hiked its annual parking fees for non-residents from $124 in 2020 to $300 per year. The council amended the ordinance to include a one-time flat rate prorated discount for 2021 for $225. Residents pay $14 per year.
