Local businessman Terry Persaud says shovels could be in the ground August 1st for workforce housing at the corner of San Carlos Boulevard and Pine Ridge Road. Persaud recently purchased the property from Margaritaville developer TPI for $4.1 million.

On July 15, 2020, 22-year old Johnny Jackson was killed on Fort Myers Beach. One year later, nobody has been charged with his murder. The reward for information leading to the arrest of Jackson's killer is now $33,000.

Last week's tropical storm caused 125 sea turtle nests on Sanibel and Captiva to lose their marking stakes and protective screens. Sea turtle staff members have been working to confirm whether the eggs washed away, too, or if they are still buried in the sand.
