Change Your Clocks, Change Your Batteries
(By Fire Chief Matt Love) This past Sunday we set our clocks forward one hour for Daylight Saving Time. We would like to remind everyone that this is a perfect time to check and change the batteries in your smoke and carbon monoxide alarms.
Lovers Key Has A Huge Event Planned
After more than 10 years of planning, the Welcome & Discovery Center at Lovers Key State Park is complete and Phase 1 exhibits are ready to show off. The Friends of Lovers Key is hosting a Gala Opening event on March 25th. Tickets are $100 per person.

Lee County Solid Waste’s third annual “Donated not Wasted” food rescue campaign begins March 22nd. The campaign encourages seasonal residents and visitors to donate unopened pantry items before returning north.
Lynn Hall Renovations Underway
Day one created quite a mess in Lynn Hall Park with washing stations overflowing with trash as the $450,000 restroom renovations began Monday. The regular facilities are closed while the upgrades are made.

Last week President Joe Biden signed a $1.9 trillion COVID-19 relief package, which will not only include money being sent directly to individuals, it will also send money to local governments.

Fort Myers Beach resident Kevin Paradiso, picture here with Jason Ingream, the owner of Mangorita's, won the hand crafted boat on Sunday. The boat was built by the late Pete McCagg. McCagg was very instrumental in getting the annual Shrimp Festival organized.

With the retirement of Mick Denham, who took over for Lee County Board Chair Kevin Ruane, the Sanibel City Council will appoint a new Mayor Tuesday during an organizational meeting.
Garbage Pickup To Begin At 6AM
Due to the delays from seasonal traffic, foot traffic and construction on Estero Boulevard, the vendor Advanced Disposal, was having trouble completing its routes on Fort Myers Beach. They were given more time early in the morning to pick up your trash.

By a vote of 13-5 the Florida Senate's Committee on Appropriations approved a bill aimed at taking some regulation power away from local governments and giving it to the state.
