Food Truck Park Back Before LPA Tuesday

After being unable to make a recommendation to the Town Council last month because of an even number of members in attendance, the Fort Myers Beach Local Planning Agency will vote again Tuesday on a Food Truck Merchant Plaza at 2500 and 2510 Estero Boulevard.

Pink Shell Approved For New Resort

In January, the Fort Myers Beach Town Council gave owners of The Pink Shell the first of 2 yes votes needed to build a new 6-story 40-room boutique hotel across from the big resort. On Monday, they received the second yes vote needed to move forward. 

Suzie Q’s Gets 6 Month Extension

On Monday, the Fort Myers Beach Town Council extended Suzie Bahan’s permit to operate a food truck and serve alcohol at 163 Old San Carlos Blvd. That permit comes up for review every 6 months.

Art Association Fundraiser Raises Over $12K

Last week the Fort Myers Beach Art Association raised $12,737 during an auction fundraising event at Clive Daniel in Fort Myers. The Art Association lost their building on the beach during Hurricane Ian and they are raising funds for a new building.

Ding Darling To Conduct Prescribed Burns on Sanibel

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service plans to conduct prescribed burns in one or more locations within the JN “Ding” Darling National Wildlife Refuge on Sanibel between February and September. 

La Ola To Appeal Judge’s Ruling

On Tuesday, a judge ruled that La Ola must either come into compliance with the town’s floodplain regulations or be out of Times Square by March 1st. Immediately after the ruling La Ola owner Thomas Houghton said he plans to appeal.

Sun-N-Fun Owner Plans to Appeal

In a final ruling filed Tuesday, Judge John Lanningham ruled that the Sun-N-Fun shipping containers on the old Liki Tiki restaurant property must be removed by March 1st. The owner of the business, Steve Larson plans to appeal the decision.
