33 months after Hurricane Ian the Island Winds condo building is back. On Wednesday Condo Board President Dave Nusbaum took us on a walkaround tour of the building. We started off on the roof overlooking the fabulous beach. Watch HERE.
Sanibel Vice Mayor Recognized
The Florida League of Cities has awarded Sanibel Vice Mayor Holly Smith their 2025 Home Rule Hero Award. This is the eighth consecutive time Vice Mayor Smith has received this honor.
Beach Tax Rolls Up Slightly
Lee County Property Appraiser Matt Caldwell has released estimated tax roll figures for Fort Myers Beach for the 2025 tax year. After seeing a 40% increase in taxable value in 2024, the estimated increase for 2025 on the beach is only 3%.
CROW Breaking Ground on New Facility
The Clinic for the Rehabilitation of Wildlife will host a groundbreaking ceremony for its new, state-of-the-art Harkey Sea Turtle Complex. This facility will replace CROW’s original sea turtle rehabilitation center that was destroyed by Hurricane Ian in 2022.Â
Town Looking For 4th Floats
The 2025 4th of July parade will begin at Bay Oaks at 9AM and continue down Estero Boulevard to Crescent Street. In order to get your float registered for the parade you must e-mail nmathes@fmbgov.com by June 27th.
Clerk Hosting Tourist Development Tax Class
Anyone who would like to learn about the tourist development tax process is invited to a free online class hosted by Lee County Clerk & Comptroller Kevin Karnes. The class is on Zoom this Wednesday at 2PM.Â

Beach Theater owner Steve Boge will present his plans for the future of the 2-level restaurant and bar at 6425 Estero Boulevard to the LPA Today. We will carry the LPA meeting live beginning at 9AM.
5th of July Cleanup
Keep Lee County Beautiful has launched its signup page for the 5th of July cleanup on Fort Myers Beach. Volunteers will meet at Lynn Hall Park at 8AM. You must register in advance HERE.

San Carlos Island Will Not Be Annexed
In a less-then-ten-minute conversation at their Management & Planning meeting Thursday, the Fort Myers Beach Town Council decided to end any thought of trying to annex San Carlos Island.

Beach Chamber Passes School Resolution
Perhaps seeing the writing on the wall with the direction the Lee County School Board is heading with the closing of the Beach School, Fort Myers Beach Chamber President Jacki Liszak sent out a recently passed resolution from the Chamber Board in favor of keeping the school open.Â
