Playing Ball For The Kids
On Wednesday, August 31st, The Fort Myers Mighty Mussels will take on the Clearwater Thrashers with $5 from each ticket purchased donated to the Fort Myers Beach Elementary School. The game will be played at the Twins Stadium with fireworks after the game.

Sanibel Asking Public For Help With Traffic
Fort Myers Beach is not the only barrier island dealing with traffic issues. The City of Sanibel is hosting 2 public discussions regarding traffic congestion at the Causeway Blvd. and Periwinkle Way intersection.
What Will The Fire Department Do With Their Millage Rate?
On Wednesday we'll also get our first look at where the Fort Myers Beach Fire District is heading with its millage rate at a 10AM board meeting at Diamondhead. Like the Library, the Fire District is its own taxing district.

Town Staff Saves FEMA Discount For Residents
Fort Myers Beach is back in the good graces of FEMA. Residents will not lose their 25% Flood Insurance Program discount. Last week FEMA gave the town the good news after months of uncertainty and back-and-forth between FEMA and the town.

Lee County tells Beach Talk Radio this vessel just past the edge of the Fort Myers Beach pier is a crew completing borings as part of preparations for work on the pier project. The pier, which was wiped out by Hurricane Ian, is expected to take 5-6 years to build.
7 Property Owner Put On Notice By Town
Those 7 property owners now have 2 months to come into compliance, which means clean up their properties, or face the consequences. If their structures are not demolished before the clock runs out, the town will knock them down.
How Sanibel is Dealing With eBikes
This week the Sanibel City Council advanced an ordinance (in a 5-0 vote) to allow Class 2 ebikes on Sanibel's 26 miles of shared use paths. Class 2 ebikes can go up to 20 MPH. The Fort Myers Beach Town Council is gearing up to possibly change their current ordinance regulating ebikes.
