Town Hosting Ian Anniversary Ceremony

The Town of Fort Myers Beach will be hosting a short ceremony to commemorate the 2nd anniversary of Hurricane Ian at Santini Plaza on Saturday, September 28th at 8AM. Speakers for the event should be announced later in the week and the Mayor is hoping to tie it into a business reopening ribbon cutting in the plaza.

The Beach Bar Could Be Back in One Year

The Beach Bar, which was located on I street before being wiped out by Hurricane Ian, received final approval to rebuild at Monday’s Town Council meeting. Because owner Greg Boyd was requesting a rezone of the property it needed to go through two public hearings.

The Fort Myers Beach LPA meeting originally scheduled for Tuesday, September 10th was canceled this week due to the lack of time for the town staff to be fully prepared to make a recommendation. Seagate's Red Coconut proposal was expected to be on the agenda.
