Captains Urges Big Sugar To Drop Reservoir Lawsuit
Three industrial sugarcane corporations filed a lawsuit in 2021 against the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers over the design and intended use of the Everglades Agricultural Area Reservoir. Captains for Clean Water has launched a campaign to get Big Sugar to drop that lawsuit.
Next Week Will Be Big For Beach Renourishment
The Town Council is expected to approve Ahtna Marine and Construction for the big dredging/pipeline renourishment project the town will begin this Summer. Ahtna was the only company out of three that met the criteria for the project and came in under budget.

Safford Decides He WILL Run for Town Council
After originally stating he would not run for Town Council, wanting to spend more time with his grandkids, Scott Safford has changed his mind and announced this week he's running for the Town Council seat he was appointed to back in February.
Long-Time Times Square Owner Passes
Times Square property owner Brad Benson (pictured here with Mango Rita's owners Jason and Jacinta) has died. Brad had been dealing with health issues in recent years and passed away this week. He was 71 years old.
Front Yard Pickleball Court Approved
Cary and Laura Kledzik, owners of 6140 Court Street, received approval from the LPA to build a pickleball court in their front yard. The Kledzik's applied to the LPA for a variance to build the court and by a vote of 6-0 the LPA sent it onto the Town Council with their stamp of approval.
North End 7-11 Breezes Through LPA
The Neighborhood Company was back in front of the LPA Tuesday where it received easy approval for the third 7-11 store the company is working to rebuild. Construction will begin in about 9 months on the store across from Lynn Hall Park.

Egret street resident Jim Dunlap (pictured) would like the Town Council to appoint him to the Local Planning Agency. A seat opened up when Patrick Vanasse stepped down after serving for 5 years.
Side Street Speeders Irk Homeowner
Flamingo Street resident Kimberly Scherman says she's fed up with speeders on her street and she and her neighbors are taking action. Scherman says after speeders ignored "slow down" signs she's purchased these items and plans to put them out on her street.
