Bowman’s Beach Rehab Set to Begin

On Tuesday July 5th, the Bowman’s Beach Park Bridge Rehabilitation Project is set to begin out on Sanibel. The project is expected to take 6 months to complete.

Bridge access will remain open to the public for the duration of the project. A portion of the southern parking lot at Bowman’s Beach Park will be closed for staging and equipment.

The scope of the project includes replacing the existing wood framed structure with a widened aluminum framed structure and recycled plastic lumber for greater durability. The City of Sanibel has contracted with Infinite Construction to perform the work.

The Lee County Tourist Development Council provided funding for this project in cooperation with the City of Sanibel.

Anyone with questions regarding the Bowman’s Beach Park Bridge Rehabilitation Project is invited to contact City of Sanibel Public Works Department via email at or by calling (239) 472-6397.

  1. Is that photo a dune walkover? Thought they can’t happen in mangroves, or where birds nest. Odd. Seems as though you are allowed to have these things after all.
