Lee Health has contracted with Curative to operate a COVID-19 testing site at its Lee Convenient Care clinic at 4771 S Cleveland Avenue in Fort Myers. On Monday, a four lane drive thru opened at the site to help meet the demand for testing as COVID surges in our community. Lee Health officials say “getting vaccinated is the best defense we have against the coronavirus.” Due to the increased demand for the COVID-19 vaccine, Lee Health also announced on Monday that it’s expanding its vaccination clinic’s hours of operation. Beginning this week, Lee Health’s Community Vaccination Clinic, which is located at Gulf Coast Medical Center, will now be open on Wednesdays, along with Tuesdays and Fridays, from 7:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. There is no cost for the COVID-19 vaccine.

  1. By emphasizing the survival rates and minimizing the death rates only encourages people to continue to avoid the vaccine. Look at Lee Health’s stats on who is dying- the non-vaccinated! Of course people are survivng because the vaccine is working, but we have a lon(and lifelong) battle with this virus ahead of us. People should be afraid. Each round of resurgence is a new, and potentially more deadly version of this virus. Children are being hardest hit now. I work in the lab and just yesterday tested 2 five year Olds, a 7 year old and a 14 year old who were POSITIVE for covid. What will be their outcome? We don’t know yet. They can’t get the vaccine. Did they contract it from an unvaccinated person? Did they get it from not wearing a mask? Did they get it from a vaccinated person carrying the virus? If I was a parent of a child too young to be vaccinated I’d be TERRIFIED right now. I have worked in the hospital lab at ground zero from the beginning of all this and I’m tired of people not taking this seriously and then complaining when the rules of the game change. Its a virus. It’s what they do. Yes, mask up, social distance, WASH YOUR HANDS, and VACCINATE then you can live your life. Its what I’ve done and my own family. We are living life but we are also living cautiously and following guidelines and listening to the experts and so far we are not contributing to statistics. Those numbers mean nothing to us in healthcare. We know the human toll, both living and dying, but most importantly, mentally.

    • Well said, Krista and thank you for being on the front line of testing. May you and your family remain safe and healthy.

    • I just choose to live my life not terrified. I am vaccinated and all of my family members who have had the virus are recovered. We take this seriously as we do all the other perils in life. I don’t see how living in fear of dying is good for anyone. You say “ By emphasizing the survival rates and minimizing the death rates only encourages people to continue to avoid the vaccine”, I just feel everyone should the all the rates so they can make their own decisions.

    • I can hear the total frustration in your post. And I thank you for all that you are doing. It must be very difficult to do the work you are doing and maintain a positive attitude. I hear you.

  2. So why don’t you tell the 1009 loved ones of those who died, Mary, that their 1.05545037% deaths in Lee County were “acceptable” as you and your “facts” seem to be implying? Quote facts and figures all you want but any death is unacceptable especially when most could be prevented by a simple shot voluntarily.

    • Why would you jump tp the conclusion that I am implying that any deaths are acceptable. I wish no one died. Just putting out the survival rate instead of the death numbers, which scare everyone and encourages people, Krista to accuse others of statements they did not make. If the facts upset you I am sorry.

    • It is definitely real and any death is horrible. But we need to know the survival rate to stop the fear mongering. Mask up, social distance etc but don’t live your life in fear. We need to take care of our own health where we can.

  3. USAFACTS.ORG: Lee County has had 95,599. reported cases and 1009. deaths. 1.05545037% deaths of reported cases. Looks like at 98+% of people survive.
