LPA To Consider “Merchant Plaza” This Thursday

Dan Myers and his family own four residential properties and one commercial lot on Fort Myers Beach. Myers wants to build a “Merchant Plaza” across the street from the old Town Hall property at 2500 and 2510 Estero Boulevard. The LPA will vote on his plan Thursday.

Demo Work on The Wyndham Has Begun

The owners of the Wyndham have started the process to knock down the 3 resort buildings on Estero Boulevard that had not been touched since Hurricane Ian.

Putt & Pub is One Week From Saturday

Hosted by the Fort Myers Beach Woman’s Club, the 12th annual Putt & Pub is Saturday, January 18th. During the event 9 local non-profit groups and 9 area bars and restaurants, create a championship mini “golf course” throughout the North end of the island. 

Town Council To Vote on Pink Shell Resort Tomorrow

One month after the Fort Myers Beach Local Planning Agency recommended the Town Council deny a new 40-unit Pink Shell Resort, the Town Council will vote on the proposal tomorrow.

2025 Shrimp Festival Set For March

It's one of the most popular events of the year that draws more people to Fort Myers Beach than any other event during the year. The Fort Myers Beach Lions Club’s 67th Annual Shrimp Festival will take place Monday, March 3rd to Sunday, March 9th.

Persaud Pitches His Own Plan

Times Square property owner Terry Persaud will soon be asking the town to approve a new 4-story building in Times Square on property he owns. Persaud appears to be going it alone after being part of a Times Square group that pitched plans for the entire area.

Dr. Ronald Lea, a longtime resident and optometrist on Fort Myers Beach, passed away peacefully on December 24th, 2024. He was 88. His family will be hosting a celebration of life at 2:00 PM on January 25th, 2025 at 807 San Carlos Dr.

Mayor Defends Fogged Up Fireworks

Mother Nature dealt one final ugly blow to Fort Myers Beach before sending 2024 into the history books. A thick fog sat on top of the island from the early morning hours on December 31st and hardly moved before 2025 was ushered in with clear skies and bright sunshine.

BTR 5K Raises $16,500 For Woman’s Club

Our New Year's Eve 5K, which started and ended at DiamondHead Resort, on Fort Myers Beach raised $16,500 for the Fort Myers Beach Woman’s Club. 640 people registered for the 2nd annual event. 

Town Target List Down to 6 For Now

6 property owners will now appear in front of a State Administrative Judge next week, down from 8 one week ago. The town of Fort Myers Beach is going after these property owners to remove trailers and conex storage boxes.
