Town Targets 8 Properties
La Ola will be joined by 7 other property owners in front of a State Administrative Hearing Judge on January 7th as the Town of Fort Myers Beach goes after these properties to remove trailers and conex storage boxes. Here’s who the town has targeted.
Wyndham Must Come Down in 19 Days
The clock is ticking on the owners of the Wyndham. They now have 19 days to start knocking down their dilapidated resort buildings on Estero Boulevard. The town gave them 30 days to start the demo work back on December 16th.Â
S.O.B. is Now Open
Another Fort Myers Beach staple is back open for business with a full menu and fully stocked bar. Smokin Oyster Brewery on Old San Carlos is now being run by the owners of Wahoo Willie’s and Snug Harbor after being purchased by Ben Freeland at Moss Marina.Â
Pick up Your Race T-Shirt Tonight
We’re having an early t-shirt/race bib pickup tonight from 4:30PM to 6PM at La Ola in Bell Tower in Fort Myers. Our 5K Run and 1-mile walk on New Years Eve is to benefit the Fort Myers Beach Woman’s Club. We're also asking volunteers to come to La Ola tonight if possible.
Bowditch Service A Huge Success
Over 400 people flocked to Fort Myers Beach for the Christmas Eve service at Bowditch Park on the north end of the island. Hurricanes and COVID sidelined the event for several years which is hosted by Westminster Presbyterian Church.
Our Packers/Vikings Party is This Sunday

We’re Streaming The Fireworks Tuesday Night
The New Years Eve Fireworks on Fort Myers Beach will be set to music and last approximately 20 minutes. The music and fireworks will be synchronized on the Beach Talk Radio Facebook page and YouTube channel.
Free Trolly Running During New Years Eve
Lee County has announced that LeeTran will provide extended transportation services on Fort Myers Beach to accommodate New Year’s Eve festivities. The free open-air beach trams will extend service until 1 a.m. from Bowditch Point Park to the beach library.
No Shows This Weekend
Due to where the holidays fell this year - in the middle of two weeks - this will be our one weekend off from our Saturday and Sunday shows. We return to our regular schedule January 4th at 11AM at Margaritaville and January 5th at 10AM at Wahoo Willie's with the Mayor.Â

New Firehouse Should Be Open by March 2026
On Wednesday the Fort Myers Beach Fire District Board approved an $11.9 million not-to-exceed contract with Wright Construction to build the new firehouse at 2545 Estero Boulevard. The district held a groundbreaking for the new building on October 25th.Â

The Tallest Buildings on The Beach Are Approved
Fort Myers Beach is now a community divided. On one side is a group who fought for incorporation. A fight instigated by tall buildings being dropped on the island by Lee County. On the other side, the beach's elected officials who believe Hurricane Ian changed the playing field.
