Well over a year ago, the town replaced the sound system in the room public meetings are held at City Hall, presumably so the public could clearly hear meetings broadcast on the town’s YouTube page and Comcast TV channel. The new system has been nothing short of disastrous.
From day one the new system has not worked, with speakers cutting in and out at nearly every town council and committee meeting.
Council members receive texts from a listening public, at nearly every meeting, telling them there’s no sound coming from a speaker or that every third word is being broadcast as the system cuts in and out.
At Monday’s council meeting Town Manager Roger Hernstadt told the council bids are just now being requested for a new system and one may not be in place until the end of March.
