$675,842 is waiting to be claimed at the Lee County Clerk and Comptroller’s office. There are over 1,000 people and businesses owed money, according to a report released by Clerk and Comptroller Kevin Karnes. They have until March 27th to claim any funds issued in 2024 before that money is transferred to the state.

The claims range from one cent to over $100,000. GO HERE to search for names or download the full list.

The report includes uncashed checks for County and Clerk vendors, tax deed payments and foreclosure auction transactions. Court registry payments and overpayments for recorded documents, such as mortgages or deeds, are also included. Additionally, there are funds to be claimed from the civil registry, which includes foreclosure surplus proceeds, non-resident cost bonds and garnishment deposits.

“If you’ve had a court case in recent years or if you’ve done business with the Clerk’s office or Lee County, you could be owed funds and not even realize it,” Karnes said. “As your Clerk and Comptroller, I encourage you to visit our website to see if you or your organization has unclaimed money waiting for you. It’s simple to check and see – all you have to do is visit www.leeclerk.org/treasurehunt and look for your name.”
