The Semmer family announced on social media this past weekend that long-time Fort Myers Beach resident Bill Semmer passed away peacefully on January 20th surrounded by his children and grandchildren. Semmer was battling melanoma cancer.
The post on the Semmer Electric Facebook page said, “Bill lived every day to the fullest and loved deeply his family, friends, and community.”
Fort Myers beach Mayor Dan Allers said, “Bill Semmer was a well respected family and businessman. His contributions to our community have reached so many over the years. On behalf of the Town of Fort Myers beach, we offer our sincere condolences to his family during this difficult time.”
The Semmer family will announce a Celebration of Life at a future date.
Semmer Electric will remain open and Bonita Bills, which the family also owns, is still working towards a future reopening after being hit hard by Hurricane Ian on September 28th.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Ostego Bay Foundation Marine Science Center which was co-founded by Bill and his sister Joanne in 1991.
