Lee County announced on Tuesday that work to fully restore Crescent Beach Family Park on Fort Myers Beach has begun. The $1.3 million in upgrades is only expected to take unti the summer to complete. Here’s what you’ll see when the work is done.
- Shade structures and utility connections for an ADA-compliant modular restroom facility
- Integrated bike racks
- A picnic area
- A landscaped pedestrian path
- Four beach access points, including one ADA-accessible route, to improve park accessibility and the visitor experience
The park, 1100 Estero Blvd., is closed and the restroom trailers will be removed for the duration of construction. Nearby restroom facilities are available at Lynn Hall Memorial Park.
The park was damaged by Hurricane Ian. The project is funded by FEMA funds, Regional Park impact fees and Tourist Development Taxes through the Beach and Shoreline Program.

My husband (Richard York) and I owned the Sandman Motel on part of that property in the early 90’s. I believe our address was 1080 Estero Blvd. Many good memories of Ft. Myers Beach and sorry to hear of all the troubles these days. Good luck to all!
This is great for the beach and for all of us. Another project funded by FEMA. Yay. However, for those of us who applied for and are still waiting for 3+ years for FEMA approval for our Hazard Mitigation Grant, we continue to be stuck in a black hole, not able to do squat until they do. Ed, you know what I’m talking about.
Nice. Publicly owned gulffront, much better than another hotel a former council and a former county commissioner wanted there.
