On Saturday at Lah De Dah our guest for the entire hour was Fort Myers Beach Fire Chief Scott Wirth. The Chief detailed what would happen if property tax reform passes. We also discussed the millage rate, the potential merger, lightning, and overall safety.

Since 2020 I would guess that the population of FMB is lower. I would also guess that there are less hotel rooms since 2020. I would also guess that there are less actual buildings (commercial and residential) since 2020. Has the fire dept cut ANY firefighters since 2020? But, but we are rebuilding! Yes this is true and as the island is rebuilt more firefighters can be hired.
I required an ambulance about 5 years ago and did receive a bill from FMB Fire Dept.
I ended up in a FMB ambulance a couple years ago….. no bill for the service. My son was taken by ambulance to the hospital while at UF by the county ambulance service in Gainesville and we/insurance were billed around $800. Should user fees be charged to offset costs?? Please correct me if I’m remembering this incorrectly, but I honestly don’t think we were billed for the services from the FMB ambulance.
