Lee County says the work being done to the median up and down Estero Boulevard will be completed in the Fall of next year, weather permitting of course. The contractor is about 25% through construction which is slightly ahead of schedule.

The $9 million project provides improvement to Estero Boulevard from Crescent Street to Big Carlos Pass. It addresses damage caused by Hurricane Ian and includes repairs of damaged asphalt, curb and gutter, sidewalk, pavement, pedestrian handrail, school flashers, pedestrian signals, as well as the removal and replacement of the center drain brick pavers. The contractor will also replace ADA ramps and detectable warning surfaces.

The contractor has identified and is correcting some additional storm-generated damage not captured in the original project scope that may push the project a little longer.

The contractor is Wright Construction and the Construction Engineering and Inspection work is being done by Apex Companies.

  1. When will the weeds be addresses next to the sidewalk? Maybe keeps saying that garden club is addressing it… but when??

  2. You would think the part that they would be fixing would be the 135 manhole covers that are either 5 inches above the street of 5 inches below, turning Estero Blvd into a slalom course where drivers have to veer into the bike lane to avoid suspension damage. Wait, I forgot, Lee county…..

  3. They are doing a great job in my opinion. How most of the workers are able to perform heavy labor while wearing long pants and long sleeve shirts during the heat of the day is beyond my comprehension.
