Full Postal Delivery Coming in Weeks

That’s what the flyer posted at the temporary Post Office on Carolina Avenue on Fort Myers Beach stated. Beach residents have been without mail delivery since Hurricane Ian came through town on September 28th.

The Post Office is reminding residents to make sure their mailboxes are in good working order and submit a change of address form. Once full mail service is restored to the island, the option of picking up mail at the temporary Post Office will no longer be available.

All mailboxes must be securely installed, have a house number on it with a flag on the side and be clear of any debris. Many residents lost their mailboxes from the high winds and storm surge during Ian.

Here’s is the official statement from the Postal Service:
We are still evaluating where it’s safe to deliver on the island. Once that wraps up, we’ll have a better idea of when mail delivery can resume. However, as of now, we don’t have a firm date. The informational flyer you reference was posted to help customers prepare for the resumption of mail delivery.
